Types of Braces
Traditional Metal Brackets

This is the most common type of braces.
The wires are held into the brackets with “rings”
which can be colored or uncolored.
Ceramic Brackets

Ceramic brackets work in the same way as traditional
metal brackets, but are a more esthetic option.
Self-ligating Brackets
A
new technology in orthodontic treatment, self-ligating
brackets eliminate the need for rubber bands. Instead
they have a “trap door” that holds the wires
into the brackets. The advantage is fewer overall visits
and quicker treatment times. In addition, the gums remain
healthier during treatment, as there are no elastic
rings to hold plaque and bacteria against the teeth.
Invisalign®
Invisalign®
treatment moves your teeth using a series of custom-
fit, removable mouth trays, or aligners, that apply
a controlled amount of force to your teeth. The process
begins with a computer-generated image of what your
teeth will look like at each stage of treatment, and
successive aligners are made accordingly. Every two or three weeks
you will switch trays, and you will need to visit Dr.
DeLuke every four to six weeks to ensure treatment is
progressing as planned. While Invisalign® treatment
is very effective for the correction of certain orthodontic
problems, it is not the appropriate treatment for all
patients. During the Initial Visit Examination Dr. DeLuke will inform you if you
are a candidate for Invisalign® treatment.
